Two injured in Lake Lanier boat collision

GAINESVILLE - A Labor Day boating accident on Lake Lanier sent two people to the Northeast Georgia Medical Center according to Gainesville Fire Division Chief Keith Smith.<br /> <br /> Smith said the incident happened between 9:30 and 10:00 Monday morning on the Chattahoochee River portion of the lake near the Dawsonville Highway bridge.<br /> <br /> "One person was seriously injured," Smith reported, "...and the other injury was non-life threatening."<br /> <br /> Gainesville emergency personnel accessed the victims from Sportsman Club Road off of Highway 53.<br /> <br /> "From what our personnel gathered there were two boats that collided," Smith said.<br /> <br /> Smith said some bystanders in nearby boats helped with the rescue, taking rescue crew members to the injured from the Sportsman Club access point.<br /> <br /> Smith said Hall County emergency personnel assisted with the rescue.<br /> <br /> The incident is under investigation.<br />
