PEACHTREE CITY - Strong thunderstorms are expected across Georgia Sunday, with the biggest threat in the southern portion of the state.

The National Weather Service (NWS) says the heaviest rain is expected late Saturday night and into Sunday afternoon, then taper off Sunday night and Monday.

Rainfall amounts of 2 to 2.5 inches are possible across central Georgia with lesser amounts across north Georgia - 1.3 inches in the Atlanta-Gainesville-Athens area and an inch or so in the mountains, and some minor flooding could occur.

In addition, a few of the storms could be "strong to severe with damaging winds and isolated tornadoes possible," according to the NWS. The greatest risk is south of a line from LaGrange-to-Forsyth-to-Warrenton.

Click on the link below for more information.
