Boys basketball: Lumpkin holds off Towns in 3-point contest

HIAWASSEE -- Jack Howard drained five 3-pointers as part of his game-high 26 points to lead Lumpkin County to a 69-59 win over Towns County Friday night.<br /> <br /> Lumpkin County led throughout taking leads of 17-15 after the first quarter and then 36-27 by halftime. They blew the game open with a 16-3 spurt in the third quarter to take a 52-30 lead into the final eight minutes.<br /> <br /> But Towns County did not go away hitting six 3-pointers in the fourth quarter to cut the lead to 10. But Towns County could not get any closer.<br /> <br /> Zack Pulley added 10 points for Lumpkin County. Matt Satterfield had seven points.<br /> <br /> Towns County was paced by Boone Moss with 16 points and Adam Barrett with 10 points.
