DAWSONVILLE -- Dawson County wasn't about to be left out of the mix, not this time.
The Lady Tigers knocked out Cedartown 9-2 on Thursday in Game 3 of the two teams' Class AAA second round playoff series in Dawsonville.
The result clinched a spot in the state championship finals tournament next weekend in Columbus, where the Lady Tigers will make their first ever Columbus appearance -- joining seven other teams from Class AAA -- as the lone representative from northeast Georgia in Class AAA.
Buford also booked a place in Columbus on Wednesday, sweeping St. Pius in the Class AAAA second round.
Dawson County split its first two games with Cedartown, winning Game 1 3-2 before falling 6-1 in Game 2 to set up Thursday's deciding contest.
