Donald C. Braswell

Obituary Date: Tuesday, April 16, 2024

Donald C. Braswell of Buford, Georgia, died on April 16, 2024, after a six-month battle with heart problems and complications from Parkinson’s.  The memorial service will be at Hamilton Mill Memorial Chapel from 4 – 5 PM on Sunday, May 5, 2024 with visitation prior from 3 – PM. Pastor Jeff Crook is officiating. Interment will follow on Monday, May 6, 2024 at 3 PM at Georgia National Cemetery, Canton, GA with military honors.

He was born in Lakeland, Fl and raised in Macon, Georgia. He was an Eagle Scout and a graduate of Lanier High School for Boys. Additionally, he was a graduate of both the University of Georgia and Georgia State University, he was employed by the Coca-Cola Company for 22 years before taking an early retirement in 1988. He was a founding partner and worked for The Learning Curve Training Group for over 27 years. He had provided consulting and instruction to over 19,000 students prior to his retirement in 2018.

Don was commissioned into the United States Army and served on active duty and in the reserves for over 30 years. He had retired with the rank of Colonel. He was a life-member of the Reserve Officers Association, the Disabled American Veterans, and the National Rifle Association. He was an active member of the Christ Place Baptist Church near his home in Buford, GA and attended the Lanier Griffith Bible Fellowship.

He is survived by his wife, Laura Braswell; son and daughter-in-law, Clayton and Donna Braswell and grandchildren Sarah, Clay, and Everett Braswell of Suwanee Ga.; son and daughter-in-law, Courtney and Martha Braswell, and grandchild Ethan Braswell of Stone Mountain, Ga; Stepchildren, John Gann and wife Cathy of Powder Springs, GA; Sarah Wise and husband Chris of Ormond Beach, Florida. Step grandchildren include Jackson Gann; Lauren Roberts and husband Rob; Rachel Stanley and husband Andrew; Kailey Euceda and husband Louis; Jaylin Gann; Marlena Gann; Evan Maimone; Lylah Wise; Jayda Victor and husband Oli; and seven step great grandchildren.

He was proceeded in death by his parents Clay and Sara Braswell of Macon, Georgia and two sisters: Infant Carolyn and Beverly Jean Braswell and husband Charlie Wolfe and Stepson Jason Gann.

Don and his wife Laura loved to travel and had been to all 50 States and 14 foreign countries. Don also loved the yearly fishing trips with his sons at various locations in the US.  He particularly liked Alaska and went as often as possible. One of his favorite travel activities was to fish for "Kings' on the Ninilchik River outside of Homer Alaska.

In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to the USO or the Parkinson’s Foundation.
