McCoy in first place, leading Georgia golf in N.C.

WILMINGTON, N.C. -- With junior Lee McCoy again leading the way, the Georgia men's golf team stood fifth on Sunday after two rounds of the Seahawk Intercollegiate being held at Country Club of Landfall.

McCoy, who claimed medalist honors last Sunday at the Linger Longer Invitational and then earned National and SEC Golfer of the Week honors, opened the event with rounds of 2-under 70 and even-par 72 for a total of 2-under 142. McCoy, a Habersham Central graduate, is tied with Army's Peter Kim for the tournament lead and they hold a 2-shot advantage over five others.

On Sunday, the Bulldogs recorded rounds of 6-over 294 and 10-over 298 for a total of 16-over 592. Campbell posted the team lead at 584, followed by Army at 586, Harvard at 588 and Old Dominion at 591.

Freshman Zach Healy stood 15th at 3-over 147 following loops of 2-over 74 and 1-over 73. Rounding out the Bulldogs' lineup were junior Sepp Straka (75-76) at 7-over 151, senior Nicholas Reach (75-77) at 8-over 152, and sophomore Greyson Sigg (75-80) at 11-over 155.

Playing as an individual, senior Mookie DeMoss was eighth at 1-over 145 after rounds of 2-over 74 and 1-under 71.

The Seahawk Intercollegiate will conclude on Monday.
