HCSO deputy to keynote GALEO event

By Ken Stanford
ATLANTA - Hall County deputy sheriff AnMarie Martin will deliver the keynote address later this year for the Georgia Association of Latino Elected Officials (GALEO) Power Breakfast.

The annual event is one of the principle fundraising events for GALEO and the GALEO Latino Community Development Fund, according to GALEO Executive Director Jerry Gonzalez.

Gonzalez emphasized Martin will not be representing the sheriff's office but will be speaking as a "community member."

"We choose her as a speaker because she is an enthusiastic and motivational speaker," he added. "She recently has spoken to our GALEO Institute for Leadership and provided an astounding speech to motivate them to continue their effort on leadership development. She is a committed member within the community we are working with in Gainesville and Hall County and she is a tremendous role model to many Latinas/Latinos."

Martin is currently employed in the sheriff's department's Office Special Operations / A.D.V.A.N.C.E. (Avoiding Drugs Violence and Negative Choices Early) program. She is one of five deputies who facilitates the A.D.V.A.N.C.E. curriculum in the local school system. She recently addressed the Brenau University MLK Jr. Convocation. (See second link below.)

GALEO's 12th Annual Power Breakfast will be held May 8 at the Hilton Atlanta Northeast in Norcross.
