Flowery Branch named one of 5 safest cities in state

A recently released report lists Flowery Branch as the 5th-safest city in Georgia.

Compiled by Value Penguin, a two-year-old business and consumer research company based in New York, the study describes Flowery Branch as "a city with a small town appeal that is located only 45 minutes northeast of downtown Atlanta, Flowery Branch is best known for (its) historic buildings as well as Lake Lanier, where residents and visitors can enjoy water activities year round. For you sports fans, Flowery Branch is also home to the Atlanta Falcon Headquarters. In regards to safety around town, Flowery Branch ranks right towards the top with the 4th best overall crime score in our 2015 safest cities study."

Rounding out the top five are Holly Springs (first); Johns Creek (2nd); Milton (3rd); and Tyrone (fifth).

Among other cities and towns in northeast Georgia, Jefferson is listed 9th; Braselton 15th; and Suwanee 18th.
Gainesville comes in at number 57.

In all, 104 Georgia cities and towns with a population of 5,000 or more and who filed a crime report with the FBI in 2013 are included.

Researchers used 2013 FBI crime statistics in arriving at their findings.
