Challenged Child & Friends names new principal

GAINESVILLE - Challenged Child & Friends has named veteran educator Monique Jackson as its new principal.<br /> <br /> Jackson, who has more than 25 years of experience in education, brings a diverse background to Challenged Child & Friends.<br /> <br /> "My philosophy of education is simple, but precise," Jackson said. "I believe in developing the whole child, collaborating with families and the community to bridge any gaps as to ensure the child receives the best possible education afforded to them. This is done by nurturing, educated and caring staff members who maintain the highest standards of professionalism."<br /> <br /> Jackson worked for eight years as a lead special education instructor and grade level chair. She spent seven years with early intervention centers as a consultant advising on special education issues, compliance, staffing and parental training. She served as a liaison and advocate with families, providing support resources and training.<br /> <br /> Jackson comes to Challenged Child & Friends after working as a service coordinator with Babies Can't Wait in Hall and surrounding counties. <br /> <br /> "We are excited to have Monique on our staff," Challenged Child & Friends Executive Director Amy Gates said. "She brings a wealth of experience in education, and we think she will be a great resource for our students and parents."<br /> <br /> Jackson earned her early childhood special education degree from California State, and a master's degree in philanthropy and development from St. Mary's University. She is currently working on a doctorate in special education leadership.<br /> <br /> Jackson, and her husband, Ernest, live in Buford with their 8-year-old daughter, Ca'Leia.
