Former Jackson Co. sheriff, businessman dies

COMMERCE - A former sheriff of Jackson County, who also owned and operated a men's clothing store in Commerce for 14 years, has died.<br /> <br /> L.G. "Snuffy" Perry, 89, died Thursday.<br /> <br /> Working as a salesman for George W. Helmne Tobacco Company, Perry became a household name in many homes throughout northeast Georgia, according to his obituary. Perry served as Jackson County Sheriff from 1965-1967, owned and operated Perry's Men's Store in Commerce from 1970-1984 and was President of Northeast Georgia Bonding Company 1985
