BRASELTON - First responders in Jackson County freed a motorist from a vehicle partially submerged in water in a creek near Braselton Wednesday morning.

Jackson County Emergency Services Director Steve Nichols said West Jackson firefighters and Jackson County Sheriff's deputies responded to the call around 11:30 a.m.

Nichols said the initial call indicated a vehicle was in a small lake on Jesse Cronic Road near Cronic Circle with a person trapped inside.

"It used to be called Cronic's Lake, I'm not sure that it still is. It's just a small farm-type pond that's right next to the roadway," Nichols said.

Nichols said responders actually found the vehicle partially submerged in a creek that flows into the lake.

"He (the victim) was extricated by West Jackson Fire and checked and treated on the scene by EMS and released with no injuries," Nichols said.

Nichols said the Jackson County Dive Team was initially called but was cancelled after first responders arrived.

The Georgia State Patrol is in charge of the accident investigation, according to Nichols.
