CLEVELAND - A 20-month-old child and the mother received burns when a pan of boiling water was knocked off a stove Tuesday morning in Cleveland.

Cleveland Fire Chief Ricky Pruitt said the incident occurred around 10:30 a.m. at a residence on Pinecrest Circle in the city.
According to Pruitt, the mother had reached into a cabinet above the stove for something and the item fell out of the cabinet and hit the handle of the pot of boiling water, causing the hot water to splatter on the child and mother.
Both the victims were taken by White County ambulance to Northeast Georgia Medical Center for treatment.
Cleveland Fire Department, White County Emergency Medical Services and Cleveland Police Department responded to the call.
