Cross country: Chestatee teams sweep Harrier Harvest Invitational

TALLULAH FALLS -- Both Chestatee cross country teams came away with easy victories Tuesday at the third annual Tallulah Falls Harrier Harvest Cross Country Invitational Tuesday.<br /> <br /> The Chestatee boys dominated the race placing five of the top six runners. The War Eagles' Ivan Martin won the boys race setting a new course record with a time of 18:11.06. Logan Brock finished second, Austin Donaldson was fourth, Wesley Nicholson took fifth, and Zach Funk was sixth for Chestatee.<br /> <br /> The Chestatee boys finished with 18 points and Talluah Falls and Stephens County each finished with 65 points. <br /> <br /> Stephens County's Tristen Powell prevented the War Eagles from getting a perfect score by placing third overall for the Indians.<br /> <br /> In the girls race, Chestatee freshman standout Lindsey Grater captured her fifth overall win equalizing the course record with a time of 20:50.00. Abbie Cliche placed third and Merrie Barnett took fourth place.<br /> <br /> The Chestatee girls finished with 25 points while Towns County had 39 points and Tallulah Falls had 55 points.<br /> <br /> The War Eagles next will travel to Unicoi State Park on October 30th for the Region 8-AAAA Championship.
