GAINESVILLE - Hall County and city of Gainesville firefighters responded to a house fire on Arthur Lane just before 1 a.m. Wednesday, according to Hall County Fire Marshal Scott Cagle.<br />

Cagle said when firefighters arrived, they found heavy fire coming from the living room of the 800 square-foot house. He said the fire was contained to the living room and the kitchen, but the house was not liveable because of heat and smoke damage.<br />

Neither of the residents who lived at the house was home at the time the fire broke out. One of them returned to find the fire, and called 911.<br />
<br />
Cagle said the exact cause of the fire is unknown, but it does appear accidental.<br />
<br />
The American Red Cross was called to help with shelter and clothing.<br />
