ATHENS - An agent with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco Firearms and Explosives (ATF) was shot during an undercover investigation near the Athens-Ben Epps Airport Tuesday afternoon.<br />

ATF spokeswoman Ginger Colbrun said the agent - whose name has not been made public - was in stable condition following the shooting. <br />
<br />
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation said the agent was fired on during the undercover operation. He returned fire, killing one suspect.<br />
<br />
CBS46 in Atlanta identified the suspect as 20-year-old Javontay Darden. The television station reported a second suspect, 21-year-old Steven McKinley, was arrested. <br />

The agent is being treated at Athens Regional Medical Center.<br />
