First hearing on proposed Oakwood tax hike is Monday

OAKWOOD - The first of three planned public hearings on a proposed 50 percent property tax hike in Oakwood is scheduled Monday.<br /> <br /> City Manager Stan Brown said earlier this month the new rate would be four mills, up from the current 2.658 mills and would be effective New Year's Day.<br /> <br /> Brown said the tax increase is needed to fund maintenance of the city's equipment and infrastructure.<br /> <br /> Monday's hearing is at 4:00 at Oakwood City Hall. The second will be at 4:00 October 6 and the third at 6:00 on October 13. Both of them will also be at City Hall. <br />
