Cleveland man charged in armed robbery of BB&T

GAINESVILLE - Two days after the BB&T branch in Clermont was robbed, a suspect in the case is behind bars.

Hall County Sheriff's Deputy Nicole Bailes said 39-year-old Jason Keith Williams of Cleveland was arrested Thursday night around 6:30 p.m. at the Comfort Inn and Suites in Jackson County. Bailes said Jackson County and Jefferson City law enforcement assisted with the arrest.

Williams has been charged with armed robbery, although other charges are pending, according to Bailes. He is being held without bond.

Williams is accused of entering the bank around 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 15, and taking a cash drawer at gunpoint. No one was injured in the hold-up.
