GAINESVILLE - Saturday, August 24 is the one-year anniversary date of the murder of 16-year-old Hannah Truelove of Gainesville - a murder that has yet to be solved.
"We're hoping that the case is not going to grow completely cold," said Hall County Sheriff's Sgt. Stephen Wilbanks. "We want to renew public interest in the case. We want to see if we can generate any new information that might be out there and develop any new leads."
Truelove was found stabbed to death in a wooded area behind Lanier Club Apartments on Dawsonville Highway. Truelove lived at the apartment complex with her mother.
Wilbanks said investigators are still very interested in getting information on a vehicle that was seen the night of the murder, even though authorities acknowledge the vehicle's appearance could have been altered.
He said the vehicle was a late 1990s or early 2000s model four-door passenger car, possibly a Chevrolet or Dodge product.
"At the time of Hannahís murder the car was light silver in color, with substantial front end damage and a driverís door that was either white or a lighter shade of silver," said Wilbanks.
Despite the fact that the murder occurred a year ago, investigators have not given up on tracking Truelove's killer.
"A case like this that remains open for an investigator is...I'll stop short of saying it weighs heavily on their mind, but it's never far from it," said Wilbanks.
He reiterated that anyone with information can leave an anonymous tip with the Hall County Sheriff's Office. (See information under photo to the right.)
A reward fund has been established at Independence Bank on Green Street in Gainesville. It's called Justice4Hannah and is open to anyone who wishes to donate.
